Since The Brave, there was no directorial venture from the Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp. Ending all the speculation, Depp is coming up with his second most significant directorial venture, based on the biopic of Amedeo Modigliani. Not a traditional Biopic you will get here but the 48 minutes that ever changed an artist’s life and fortune.

While most audiences are waiting for Johnny Depp’s upcoming movies in 2023, the news of his directorial venture gives a boost to his celebrity persona again. Depp will play Louis XV in Jeanne Du Barry and the film had already its world premiere on 16th May 2023 at Cannes Film Festival.

The film captures a particular moment in Modi’s life. He was a great Italian artist mainly known for his erratic works like reclining nude paintings. 


His life was also a peculiar type. His fortune came until he met the art collector Maurice Gangnat, played by Al Pacino. The story sets in the time of war-torn Paris in 1916 when Modi was thinking about finishing his career. 

Amedeo Modigliani’s rise was the fuel for the expressionists at that time. Riccardo Scamarcio, an Italian actor will play the lead role and Pierre Niney as the fellow artist Maurice Utrillo. Although there’s more to reveal, it’s exciting that Al Pacino will play the art collector who changed Modi’s life forever.
