If you remember him from The Mummy, George of the Jungle, or even Journey to the Centre of the Earth, you feel nostalgic sometimes, I hope. It reminds us of our childhood memories of those movies. Now it’s time to change your perspective.

- The Mummy (1999)
The Mummy is a 1999 American action-adventure film directed by Stephen Sommers and starring Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, John Hannah, and Arnold Vosloo. The film follows an adventurer named Rick O’Connell (played by Fraser) who travels to Egypt to defeat an evil mummy named Imhotep (played by Vosloo) who has been resurrected and seeks to conquer the world. Rachel Weisz plays the role of a librarian named Evelyn who helps Rick in his mission.
The film was a commercial success and spawned two sequels: “The Mummy Returns” (2001) and “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor” (2008), both of which also starred Brendan Fraser.
Fraser was off for a few years. With this surprising appearance through The Whale, he really forces us to rethink him. I wish Netflix launches more such Brendan Fraser movies on its platform including The Whale.
