Squid Game Season 2 Confirmed by Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos

Netflix co-CEO and chief content officer Ted Sarandos confirmed the release of Squid Game season 2. During Netflix’s fourth-quarter earnings call, he was asked if there would be part 2 of The Squid Game or not. In reply, he said, “Absolutely. The Squid Game universe has just begun”.  Since then, fans are starting to shout everywhere on the internet. 

Created by Hwang Dong-Hyuk, The Squid Game become the most-watched web series on Netflix in 2021. It came with a brand new story that quench the whole world’s audience’s thirst for watching a good web series. Debt-ridden people get together in a place where they have to play a mysterious game and win a hefty amount of money. It’s not a regular game rather a game of death.

This is a great time for the Korean entertainment industry. Netflix has already said to launch a huge chunk of South Korean content this year. With that said, anticipation is already graining stronger about the Money Heist Korean remake. Along with new content, some already-released South Korean content like The Silent Sea, Hellbound has already grabbed audiences’ attention across the world.    

After the official announcement of Squid Game season 2, it’s good for those obsessive fans who wanted part two as soon as they finished the show running on Netflix. Though the creator of the show already gave a hint about its season 2, it’s now official. Of course, season 2 will have Lee-Jung-Jae because everyone has already died. In addition, there will be more new casts.

What’s more interesting is that O Yeong-su won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor. Also, the series got various awards. With a new plot and cast, The Squid Game season 2 will appear again to appease the thirst of those fans. Though there is no official release date for this Netflix-running show, it is not coming until 2023. So, another season is raising our expectations. It’s time to see what happens in the future.
